iphone Ft. Worth Zoo

Today we decided to head on over to the Ft. Worth Zoo while it was still "cool" 93... next week we will reach the 100's!  The kids and I packed a lunch, stopped to get donuts and gas and were on our way.

We arrived at the Zoo and were surprised to see that we were one of the first cars there... and the Zoo had only been open for 15 minutes or so... we thought.  Turns out (I can laugh now...) the Zoo didn't open until 10, not 9... so we were 45 minutes early.  I was in a super good mood (ya, right) because even though we had to stand around for 45 minutes, I was 45 minutes early... first time that's ever happened in my W-H-O-L-E life.  Just kidding, I was really irritated that I could've laid around in my pajamas at home for an extra 45 minutes.  Oh well, it turned out to be no big deal and we had a FANTASTIC DAY!!!

Donuts!  Not a better way to start the day...

Since we got there sooooo early, we turned a penny into a meerkat!

Sooooo happy... this kid is learning that Mommy is much happier when he looks and smiles!

 First up - cheetahs

 On to the primates...

 Meerkats  and giraffes- my favorites!

 Feeding the ducks and fish
 Cole loved the elephants

Grady is getting pretty big for these elephants!

Grady when he was almost 2...
Grady when he was 2 1/2 ...
Grady when he had just turned 4...

 White Tiger

 So cool, he was swimming
Sloth Bear pacing... he was kinda creepy
I think these are the same cubs (but much older) from the first time we brought G to the Zoo
Feeding the birds all by himself
 Hyacinth Macaws
Highlight of the day - making his own snow-cone!
I think we he got every color... twice!

Traditional shot on the gator... we always have to get one - and Cole's first one!
Here is Grady when he was almost 2!

G was telling a story to Cole about how this was a bear cage... etc....

Petting the King Snake - fearless child!

Such pretty pink birds, but so stinky!

What a GREAT way to spend a summer day with my boys!!!
