So... I Don't Like Grass!

So you start off pretty curious...

And then rather quickly decide...

Grass is NOT your cup of tea!

This is all pretty funny Cole,
because you NEVER are unhappy... about anything.... ever!

Maybe just a bad day... but your face is PRICELESS!!!

Brothers...

I think Chris Farley said it best in Tommy Boy...
"Brothers don't shake hands.  Brothers gotta hug!"

It all started with love at first sight...

And we pray best friends for life!

Six Months and Counting...!

Dear Cole,
So it seems like just yesterday you were born sweet Cole. Flash forward six months and here we are. You have grown and changed so much buddy and it's hard for me to think of you as halfway to one year!

You still take 4, 8 ounce bottles at 7, 11, 3 and 7:15. You have also started eating baby food! So far you like squash, peas, sweet potatoes, peaches and carrots. You don't like applesauce.  Mommy makes them herself in the food processor. You love baby food and transitioned very easily. You have also started drinking water from a sippy cup!

You are still a great sleeper! You sleep from 8-7 and take 3 naps. You are about to dump the evening mini-nap, and since I just put you in your swing for it anyway you should do just fine. Half of the time we are hauling you places anyway, like brother's T-ball games!  You aren't too fond of sleeping other places... but then again you aren't real cranky either - you just don't sleep.  At night and naps you sleep on your belly and with a "blanky" and your thumb in your mouth.

You can sit up for longer periods now and are starting to crawl. You get on all fours and rock and have now been pulling both back legs up like a frog. It is too cute! You will be mobile in no time!

You hold toys really well and put everything in your mouth! I pulled out some real baby toys and you are in heaven! You love hitting the xylophone. You also like to chew on the squishy blocks.

You have your 2 bottom teeth and are constantly chewing on anything and everything.  There is a constant "drip" of slobber!

Speaking of things in your mouth... You had your first sickness last weekend. You got a little fever and stuffy nose but were back to normal in about 2 days!

You really are noticing the dogs and LOVE Molly! She comes up to you when you are in your exersaucer and licks your fingers. You smile and giggle and keep letting her do it. Silly boy!

You wear size 3 diapers and 6-12 or 12-18 month clothing. It's been so hot, I can't wait to put you in some of your fall clothes... Babies look so stinkin' cute in jeans, even though they are sooooo not practical! You don't mind hats too much, you wear them to Grady's T-ball games.

We got a new jogging stroller for all of our outdoor activities and you just love being able to stretch out! Mommy loves it too... Not for jogging but for pushing through dirt and grass at the fields.

Cole, you are the very happiest baby! We have learned though that when you get mad, you get REALLY mad. It's kinda fun to see your laid back personality tested...! You still love to be outside and now that the weather is cooling down we will spend LOTS more time out there.

You just love your brother! You light up when he comes into the room. He makes you smile and laugh so much. I pray that you and Grady will be close brothers and take care of each other.

Cole, we love you so much. I honestly don't know how such a laid back baby came out of two such non-laid back people!  HA!  We feel so very lucky to have been blessed with you!!!

Love,
Mommy and Daddy

Bossy Pants...(and it's not me this time!)

Grady:  Look mom, look what I did!
Mom:  Grady, why did you put stickers on your belly?
Grady:  Cause
Mom:  Because why?
Grady:  I don't know?
Mom:  (Thinking to myself - I'm too tired for this, and why do I care...?)  Okay.
Grady:  No, mommy.  Say to me, Take those stickers off right now!
Mom:  Take those stickers off right now.
Grady:  No, not like that... Say it really loud, like you're mad, just like this.  Take those stickers off right now! (In a screaming voice)
Mom:  I don't want to yell like that, I'm tired.
Grady:  Just say it.  Please say it.  Mom, mommmmmmy (really whiny), just say it!
Mom:  Fine!  TAKE THOSE STICKERS OFF RIGHT NOW!
Grady:  (Crying)  That hurt my feelings.

Opening Day... T-Ball Style!

So yesterday was a very exciting day in our house.  Let me just say that I have been dreaming of this day for a while now... like 25 years, yes - seriously!  Grady had his very first T-ball game and I can't decide whether G or mom was more excited.  I played pretty much any sport there was growing up and T-ball/baseball/softball was my very favorite and one of the sports I ended up sticking with for many years.  Growing up we lived at the ball fields... no exaggeration.  Craig and I both played everything so between practices and games we were there, always.  I loved these years, loved them.

I was sooooooo excited when Grady started playing with balls at one, showing lots of interest at two and then pretty much begging to play at three.  We opted to wait until he was four and considering I was due with Cole for spring ball, we waited for the fall.  His best friend Bro wanted to play too, Justin and Richard decided to coach and practices were underway.  Grady has loved every second, of all of it.  The field, balls, other kids, the equipment, water breaks, DIRT, practice and now games.  Now that doesn't mean we haven't had tears, we have.  G is very competitive and has extremely high expectations for himself... in all areas not just this.  Yesterday we had tears because he was upset about not fielding the ball correctly.  In the car he told dad that he needed to hit better.  This, I was not prepared for.  I should've been... I am the exact same way.  However, I REALLY feel that sports are such a great way to teach kids to be good winners and losers and that we all make mistakes, there will always be somebody better than you, etc.  Grady had a wonderful time and again, enjoyed most every second.  Yesterday was so emotional for me because I just can't believe that my baby is old enough to play ball!!!  My wish for him (always) is to "have fun, do good and learn something," - thanks Dad!

What a cutie, in his uniform!
Would be much happier if mom would stop taking pictures...

 Look at that tongue!

 Warming up...

 Well, kinda...

 G started at shortstop
 Getting ready to bat...
There is this ridiculous rule that they have to get 3 pitches first, then can use the T...
Grady actually hit one of dad's pitches, the 2nd time around!

 First hit EVER!
Go Grady, run!!!

 Then he plays pitcher

Game over which means - snack time!

 Look at these two stars!!!
 Bless the coaches...
Aunt Lana and Uncle Curt and Grammy came to watch
Daddy and son going to celebrate with a much deserved Sonic drink!
The game was HYSTERICAL!  There were kids crying, fighting over the ball (including G), kids missing bases entirely, one on second ran to the outfield to help the other team field the ball, kids sitting in the outfield picking grass and turned around backwards... I've never laughed so hard in my life.  Michelle and I ended up taking the guys out for beer and sushi afterward... they worked so hard to make it memorable and fun for the kids!  It was a great day!

These truly are "The BEST days of our lives!"
