Cole Merritt, you are 15 Months old! Wow, since I stopped doing your monthly posts time has just flown by. My sweet, wild boy... here is what you've been up to.
STATS:
Weight - 26.5 pounds - 75%
Height -31 in. - 50%
Head - 18.75 - 75%
Dr. K says you are perfect! You got shots today... BOO... but, you don't have anymore until you turn 2. That is great news! You also had blood drawn for iron and something else... they were both good too. She was impressed by what a happy boy you were, how active you were and she also added that you were pretty stinkin' cute - I totally agree with all of the above. She noticed how many molars you were getting ... early... and said that they looked like they hurt. You've been in such a good mood lately, I would have never known. She also said your ears looked great and that your eczema was gone. Guess the Zyrtec did the trick on the little patches of elbow eczema you had this spring.
You are into E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G, no exaggeration. Yesterday I caught you standing on top of the toy basket and I watched you climb up on top of the bathtub ledge and then dive head-first into the tub... eeekkk! It all happened in slow motion so I sat there open-mouthed, in shock and watched you do this. My goodness, I have been leaving you unattended for brief periods (our house is baby-proofed and all bedroom/bathroom doors are shut) to use the restroom, take the trash out, etc. - NOT anymore!
You get around very easily and are a pro at walking, carrying toys around in both hands and have started to run, but end up falling when you get going too fast. Your little feet haven't caught up with the rest of your body. Your shoes slow you down and you prefer to go barefoot!
You say quite a few words... mama, dada, daddy, Geedee (Grady), mo (more), dog, ruff-ruff, no-no (and you shake your head when you say it and smile...) do (door), take-you (thank you), ba (ball), du (duck), cack-cack (quack), and I know there are a few more I am forgetting. You also will copy lots of words we say. You have started pointing at airplanes... it's really cute!
You are starting to ease back from your vegetable ban. Last week you ate veggies at Mimi's house after I had been telling her for a month that you had been refusing all veggies. Hmmm... You still LOVE all fruit, meat and rice and pasta of any kind. You love all beans, yogurt, goldfish, mac and cheese, potatoes, pizza, grilled cheese and for some reason we have discovered you like french fries, chicken nuggets, ice cream, cake, chips and cookies... all in moderation. Probably the reason for the veggie ban - ha! Your favorite meal BY FAR is breakfast and you can put away as much as a 3 year old eats. You like eggs, bacon, ham, sausage, blueberry pancakes, waffles, biscuits, french toast, cereal, Nutra grain bars, etc. You also love juice (the watered down version I give you) and white milk. You feed yourself and are getting good with a fork. We see your independence here... if I get food on the fork and hand it to you, you will pull the food off, put it back on and do it yourself! Lil' stinker.
You wear size 2T clothes, size 6 shoes, and size 5 diaper. You drink well from your Nuby sippy cups and finally gave up your morning bottle on vacation. I am thrilled for no more bottle washing, but sad because this was our quiet, sweet time in the morning where you would let me hold you and you would stroke my face and smile at me. You are growing up big boy!
Your likes/loves... You LOVE your thumb and blanket (bee is what we call it) but only do these things in your crib. You really like bath-time and the pool! You like to swing, be outside, play with the dogs, eat, run away from us, and dance. You love music and finally really seem okay with the car, most likely because we turned you to forward facing. You play independently for long periods of time and are very content in doing so. You love playing with Grady and all balls. You love playing with cars/trucks and making the "vrmmm" sound. You like the TV (sigh) and still seem to like Elmo, but not hard core. You still put everything in your mouth. You love books and being read to. You don't mind your stroller either.
You went to the beach a few weeks ago and had a super time. You LOVED the water (beach and pool) and the sand. So much so that you ate bunches and bunches of sand, although this never seemed to bother you. You did go head first into the water a few times, even though we tried to watch you carefully... this is not an easy task.
You sleep well, 7:45 pm-7:30 am or whenever I manage to drag myself out of bed to get you. You happily sit in your crib and suck your thumb or play. I hear your happy screams on the monitor! You have dumped your evening cat-nap and take two, two hour naps during the day if we aren't out and about. You don't sleep in the car, or stroller - even if your are exhausted.
I would still describe you as very happy and laid back for the most part. You are the happiest little thing, but lately you have been not as laid back. I think you are very smart... you figure things out that just amaze me. You test us constantly and smile as we are saying no. You run from us and sometimes will pitch mini tantrums when you don't get your way. I tell people you are going to give us a run for our money because of how active you are, but you are sooo sweet and happy I feel bad complaining at all. I need the exercise anyway! You honestly smile all the time, except when I am taking your picture! HA!
Cole-Monster, we love you so much. You are becoming a little man right before our eyes and we can't wait to see what changes come in the next 3 months!
