A Beautiful Weekend

We were off of school good Friday so I had big plans for the kids Friday at the Arboretum... until sweet Cole got a high fever Thursday night.  Boo!  We were due considering I can't remember the last time he had a fever and luckily it was a 24 hour thing.  Other than not wanting to eat anything but junk, he's been fine ever since!  We decided the keep it low key on Friday and chill at the house.  We hung out in our pajamas, watched some TV, played upstairs in the game-room with every toy we own, and I got all of our laundry done.  Good times... it actually forced us to rest and relax which was nice.  We I tend to over plan our weekends and end up more tired on Sunday night than Friday afternoon.  Grady and I played Battleship, colored some spring pictures and had popsicles outside after practicing some baseball... it was a beautiful day!  Cole was back to himself by dinner time that night so we got some yummy TCBY!

 CRAZY boys!
They do LOVE their ice cream...

Saturday Daddy had to work all day, but we did meet him for lunch at Palio's... which got me all excited for S-U-M-M-E-R break... we met Daddy for lunch at least once a week last year!  After tacos, we played outside and soaked up some more of the beautiful weather!

 Crazy boy!
Our "first" babies... Molly is getting so white in the face... and Sumo, well... there are no words.  :)

Can you not just eat this cuteness up?!?
Cole has been doing this thing where he makes us say, "Ready, set, go" and he runs across the yard as fast as he can.  He pumps his left arm only so it's hysterical!  LOVE this silly boy!

When Cole was in the bath, G finished up his eggs... they looked beautiful!
 Check out that concentration..

We're ready for Easter morning - bring it on!

Kindergarten PTA Performance

I am in serious disbelief that my "baby" is old enough to be performing at the PTA Meeting, let alone 10 weeks away from being a first grader.  My goodness, it goes by in a blink.  Anyway, tonight was great!  Cole and I took Goose to Mooyah Burgers for a yummy dinner and then Grady and I headed back up to school for Kindergarten's performance.

It was so super cute.  I mean who can't smile from ear to ear hearing those sweet, off keys voices singing the wrong words?!?  Grady's class was in charge of the "Flower Mound" part so they all made flowers to hold up during their part.

Funny story...  Grady was very proud of his singing, but not happy about wearing the red, white and blue collared shirt with buttons on the neck.  "Nobody will be wearing a shirt like this mom."  "Yes, they will... everybody will honey."  As the kids started to arrive I realized I was wrong... half of them did not, although most from his class did.  I am still waiting for the next time Grady is assigned to wear something and he gets to remind me of this small fact.  And he will, his memory is just like his fathers...  Hey, it's not my fault the other parents don't read the note, and just because they don't doesn't mean we will ignore the note either buddy.  Take that.  Yep, I even have to "win" the argument with the 6 year old.  :)

All kidding aside, they were so precious... and it was another one of those milestones.  Sniff, sniff.

Have I mentioned this week how much we LOVE his teacher?!?

Celebrating Cole's 2nd - Thomas the Train

When I was deciding what theme to chose for Cole's birthday this year I wanted to make sure it was something he really liked.  The thing is, toddlers are pretty wishy-washy.  Last year was Elmo and Cole really loved it because he liked Elmo.  This year Cole goes back and forth with what he likes... one day Mickey Mouse, the other might be Jake and the Neverland Pirates, and then Thomas the Train.  I have a feeling CARS will be a front runner next year based on the last couple of weeks - ha!  So, we went with Thomas and it turned out pretty cute!

I tell my friends that if this teaching-thing doesn't work out, I could be a children's party planner!  I love searching on line, making some homemade stuff to go along, coming up with cute party favors (You are welcome Michelle and Tiffany), raiding Party City and Walmart for deals, etc.  It's just fun... especially when you get to do it for the little guys you love!

We had a friends party on Saturday night (which was Cole's actual birthday) and a family party on Sunday... makes it more fun to spread out the celebrating!

Saturday morning Cole helped me empty the dishwasher and he and G did some sword-fighting...

I made him a yummy breakfast (considering it's the only meal he really likes anymore...)
boo-berries, cake (cinnamon rolls) and eggs - this kid can chow on the eggs
The cake turned out really cute, and it came from Kroger.  The cake lady from Grady's party was on vacation - how dare her, ha - but I think it turned out really cute and yummy!
The cookies and gummy bears were such a hot last time...
and remained the fav snacks of the party again!
Daddy picked up some fun balloons...

The treat bags were really fun to make - I made vanilla covered pretzel rods, bagged them and added a whistle.. all the parents kids really loved that gift - ha!
I also did some picture collages of little man... these are actually my favorite part!

The kids spent most of the time outside, the weather was just perfect and being outside is Cole's fav thing to do anyway!
Cole's little buddy Drew - they are like 5 weeks apart in age!
We brought his train table down from the playroom, he spent lots of time on top of it... forget the new presents... this was all he wanted!  Ha!

We quickly moved all sports outside...
Cole thinks all sand goes outside the sandbox... but he does it smiling so it's all good
Brody and Grady were doing "push-ups" or something like that...
Sweet Tiffany took lots of pics of us - thank you!!!

Cole got lots of fun presents, but was feeling a little distracted and over-stimulated...
so thanks everybody!
 Jackson, Grady, Brody
Colton, Cole and Kate (Drew left early)

Later on that night we skyped with Mimi and Papa, played some football and opened some more  presents.

Sunday night Grammy Elaine and Aunt Lana came over for some more birthday fun!

I cooked spaghetti and meatballs, with salad and garlic bread...
 he opened presents...

got lots of hugs and snuggles whether he wanted them or not...
and impressed everyone with his new-found freedom of no gate on the stairs...
maybe we are crazy, but this kid has been doing stairs (or the outside of the staircase) for 1 1/2 years now.
I figure there's more of a chance of me falling down them than him at this point.  :)

A HUGE thanks to everybody for helping make this day so special for our sweet Cole-Monster!
Happy 2nd Birthday Cole Merritt!!!
