Saturday = Sports Day and More Fun

This past Saturday Grady had three games... one football and two baseball.  He loved every second!

We started the morning with football.  Goose was quarterback and did awesome!  He completed quite a few passes and ran running plays and they won!

Cole enjoys playing with the other siblings and basically running around like a crazy man.

Look at that winning smile!

Baseball was up next.  Grady's coach is great and let him rest up during the first part of the game, although I saw him climbing the fence, running around the dugout and saying he was bored.  I would like 1/10th their energy!
Grady got some really good hits and a homerun!  Go Goose!

He looks so mad here, but he had just slid in to home.  Serious face..,
They won both games.  Go Diamondbacks!  When I asked him after his games if he needed a break he told me "No way... that was awesome mom!"

We do snowcones for home runs!
Cole spent the games playing with baseball siblings.  We brought lots of snacks, and I found him playing with the little girls' dolls.  Hysterical!  We don't even have one doll at our house so it was funny to see him playing with them.  He told me the baby was a boy baby named Duke- ha!
After the games we got a late lunch/early dinner at Snuffers and then chilled at home the rest of the afternoon/evening.

Sunday we had breakfast at Einstein Bagels and took Daddy to pick out his early birthday present at Cabelas.  The kids always love Cabelas.  It had been a while since we'd been.  Cole was in Heaven.

This is one way to eat the cinnamon sugar spread...

Future farmers...

Testing out the ATVs
Feeding fish
He was so proud of his score!
Gangstas...
These boys are crazy!

We ended our day with haircuts, snuggles, lots of laundry, homemade chicken noodle soup (to help Cole and I get over our little cold/allergy issue) and the Cowboys.  Now we just need some fall temperatures to go with our fall weekend activities!

Fall Flag Football, 2014

Grady's first flag football game was this past Saturday for the Raiders.  They've been practicing for the last month, twice a week.  They started him practicing at center and then moved him to quarterback.  He has absolutely loved every second.  Well, yesterday was their first game and since they had never scrimmaged before or used a full field, it was a learn as you go game.  I'd say 1/2 of our team (including Grady) had never played football before this season.  They also happened to play a team with a coach who obviously missed his calling as a NFL coach and who had played together for a few years.  This guy was hard core... he made me blush, which takes a lot!  Ha!  Glad we didn't land on his team.  We just happen to love our coaches.  They told the kids before the game that winning was great, but having fun was more important.  This is my kind of attitude... or at least my attitude for 7 year olds.  If we're talking about the Cowboys or Rangers... winning is everything!  Ha!

I was so proud of Grady!  He played hard the whole game.  When I asked him after the game what he thought about playing quarterback he replied, "I didn't know they would rush me so fast.  I really had to move lots of ways.  It was a lot to think about!"  Ha!  He also played defense most of the game as well.  Needless to say, he was exhausted by the end of the game.

 Always deep in thought
Cole enjoyed running around with the other kids and eating ice.
 Screaming contests

The other team rushed a lot and made some contact, which was illegal.  Good thing our boys were tough!

He's really gotten his spiral down for the most part and is working on throwing it hard to the receivers.  He holds back some because he wants them to catch it but coach says, hit them hard in the chest... so that's what he's gonna do!

Go Raiders!

Looking forward to a super fun season!

Cole- 3 and a 1/2

Cole-Monster,

You are a big 3 1/2 now and so much has changed in the last couple months.
You started your third and final year at Mrs. Stephie's house (sniff-sniff) and you are one of the oldest.  You go upstairs and play on your own with Dex and Drew, your best buddies.  I'm sure it's loud and crazy fun with 5/6 boys!  She reports that you are near perfect and while that makes me thrilled to hear, it must be that you use up all that perfectness during the day... I have to say though that the last month or so has been so much better at home with your tantrums and mood swings.  I think we're  on our way out of that stage, thank goodness!
You are funny!  I mean really funny.  You make faces to get people to laugh, say ridiculously silly things, use accents at times, mimic things you think are funny and have the sweetest, deepest belly laugh on earth.  You also do things on purpose (like falling) to make people laugh!  You are our crazy boy!
Speaking of crazy... You are kamikaze when it comes to anything physical.  You climb fences and jump from couches, tables and bleachers.  You have perfected the art of falling (we hope) to avoid injury.  You love to show us your "ninja moves" as you like to call them and play fight with Grady.  You all made up a game called " Slap the Belly" where you hit each other hard on the bare belly and fall over.  I don't get it, but you LOVE it.  You also beg for Daddy to hit you with the Nerf bow and arrow in the "tors and berries" .. You substituted tors for twig.  No explanation needed on this one and it's your favorite. Geez...
You love to play outside, or upstairs by yourself.  You play independently really well and have a vivid imagination.  You love lego duplo, swords, Nerf guns, cars and trucks and puzzles and books.  You love to pretend to read- it's hysterical.
You love playing outside.  You chase around the big boys like you're one of them.  You are a dare-devil on playground equipment and have  constant bruised and skinned knees.
Here are some of your favorites:
Food - strawberries
Color - red, like Lightning McQueen
TV - Paw Patrol, Ninja Turtles
Thing to do - build Legos
Friend - Drew and Dex
Song - Boom Clap
Sleep With - Wolf, Halloween
To do with Daddy - build Legos
To do with Mommy - play puzzles
When I grow up - I want to play with my flashlight...
Mommy and Daddy Report...
Thing to Say - Monkey, Monkey, Monkey (pronounced mon-kay) and when we ask you why you did something you always say, "because I did"
Likes to - make silly faces, watch diggers, come in our room after bedtime every 30 minutes to "go potty" but we know it's for snuggles... sometimes 4 times a night!  (You are a light sleeper)
You are potty trained and very consistent.
You wear a true size 4T and size 10 1/2 shoes.  You weigh 35 pounds and are 40 1/2 inches tall.  You are tall and thin.  Mommy's jealous!  You love anything processed or that has sugar, pickles, cheese, berries, and bacon or sausage.  Your favorite meal is breakfast!!  You love McDonalds nuggets - gross.
You are absolutely... a ray of sunshine (more often now), independent, moody, good listener, super helper, polite, picky eater, bundle of boundless energy, sweet snuggler, beard kisser, tough as nails and (still) Lightning McQueen lover.
Happy half birthday you crazy boy!

Love,
Mommy and Daddy
