Harry Potter is at the Hoedown...

Well, I got an email from the school nurse Thursday explaining that Grady had fallen in the classroom and smacked his head on a chair.  Apparently it looked fine at first, but then swelled up huge!  She was just letting me know that he was fine and passed all the "concussion" tests she gave him, but to not plan on any family pictures anytime soon.  I prepared myself for something like this...

(Do you remember when Grady hit his head on the coffee table at Mimi and Papa's house in Florida and did this?)

So as I drove up to school I see Grady jumping from the highest part of the playground to the ground and then rolling and jumping up off the ground.  It's a wonder this kid isn't hurt more... he is covered from head to toe with bruises most of the time.  This McGyver move explains why.  I asked him how his head was.  "Fine Mom, let's go."  Alrighty then.

Amazingly, he ended up with a "very cool" Harry Potter scar... At least that's what his sweet teacher told him today when some of the kids asked him what was wrong with his head.  (Love 5 year olds... NO TACT - including my own!)  Keep in mind, my son has never seen Harry Potter.  He is however somewhat obsessed with wanting to see it and lines from the movie he saw in previews?!?  Gotta love television hypnosis and subliminal messages... seriously.

This evening we took Harry Potter and his sidekick to my school Hoedown (Carnival and silent auction) for BBQ, Ritas, pony rides, bouncing and a little dance party action.  We had a super time!  I just love my school and seeing the kids having such a good time in a non-school setting.  I also love that I've been there for 8 years now, and have developed relationships with so many of the families... it is just the best!  I take a lot of pride in my school and feel very lucky to be a Wildcat!

Here are some pictures of our fun...

Gotta be the best picture of the night... Grady was getting down to the electric slide.
I wish I had more pictures, and with my real camera instead of the camera phone... Oh well, I will have many years to take lovely pictures when I'm not chasing around my babies anymore, and I know I'll miss it like crazy.  For now, I'll just enjoy the action and treasure each moment, even if they are blurry and out of focus - HA!
