A PERFECT Day for the Zoo

Today was the most perfect day for the zoo!  We went to the Fort Worth Zoo to kick off our week off of work and school!  It was 70 degrees and party cloudy... and it was empty.  The most empty I have ever seen it - weird - but GREAT for us!  I was able to let both kids run free for the most part and it was very relaxing to not worry about who we were trampling along the way - ha!

Grady loves the zoo and always has, and pretty much tells me the facts about each animal along the way.  He's our little zoologist!

 G loves feeding those birds - I am not a bird fan, so he goes in by himself!

 The zoo is full of traditions for us - pictures with all the statues is a must and a carousel ride!

Cole was really into it this time.  He actually looked at each animal, and even named quite a few.  His favorite, the lions, were sleeping and almost out of sight, but he did name:  turtles, fish, bird, horsey, "moo" (for cow), "nake" (for snake), owl, "pider" (for spider).  He also very intently watched the primates and elephants.  The turtles were his favorite - which he can see anywhere - oh well - and he was in heaven in the MOLA part, which is home for the reptiles and amphibians - odd child!

 Food time is always a good time!

About half way through our day we stopped for lunch and took a little break.  This is where Cole took a leap off one of the chairs (no high chairs without a cover for us because they gross me out - don't judge) and did a face plant.  Typical Cole cried for about 10 seconds, but then got a nice bump above his right eye to match the one over his left eye from last week.  At least we are symmetrical now!   

He looks just thrilled...

 Everyone enjoyed the train ride - Cole's recent obsession is Thomas the Train...

 He would just  plop himself down by the tanks and watch - so cool!

 That gigantic king cobra could have eaten him for breakfast!

 These turtles remind me of a trip R and took to Busch Gardens years ago... let's just say these turtles were very calm and quiet and kept their body parts to themselves.   

What a perfect fall day to spend at the zoo with my boys - I LOVE Thanksgiving break!!!
