You are a whopping 5 1/2 years old. I can't stand it! You are starting Kindergarten in a few weeks and it seems like yesterday I was just pregnant with you, or feeding you a bottle, or pushing you in a stroller. My goodness, time flies when you are having fun!
You are about 48 inches tall and weigh about 53 pounds. You are still in the 95% plus, according to all the growth charts. You keep getting taller and skinnier. 53 pounds sounds a lot heavier than you look to me. You are so solid though. A family friend put it best. He said you were built for action. He couldn't be more right! You wear size 6 clothes and a size 1 shoe. You also still have all 20 teeth, but can't wait to get that first loose one. For the first time I have noticed a few freckles sprinkled across the bridge of your nose. They are precious...
Here are some of your favorites:
Color - silver, navy and gold (recently)
Food - Hamburgers with pickles, ketchup and mustard, ice cream, spaghetti with meatballs and all types of fruit - You will eat pretty much anything but melted cheese... still, like on grilled cheese.
TV Show - Ninjago and Lazy Town
Movie - Star Wars, Lion King and Kung Fu Panda
Sports - ALL - especially baseball, soccer, swimming and golf
Hobbies/Toys - Lego's, playing with any kind of balls, sorting animals and reading through your Lego catalogues and sticker books
Book -anything non-fiction
Animal - big cats, bears
Other interesting tidbits --
Grady, you are super into watching the Olympics this year and have loads of questions. My favorite was, "Why is that Mommy crying? She won." It bothers you when others cry, and I have to explain to you that sometimes people cry because they are happy. You have such a big, caring heart. You also ask really difficult questions... In the car the other day you asked out of nowhere how God physically gets people to Heaven. Yowzers. You are a VERY deep thinker, but sometimes forget to put on your shoes! You now sleep in boxers with no shirt. You want to be just like Daddy, or any other "big" boys you are around. You are excited for school, but a little nervous too. You are always a little nervous until you experience it, and then you become more confident. You are a little like me in that way! You can write your whole name and all of your letters and numbers. You have started to read and write. You can count past 100, easily and put numbers together in your head... who does this sound like? Duh - Daddy(the accountant)! Which is interesting considering somebody told us that since you crawled late you'd be weak in math. Hmmm
You love the dogs and to play outside. You get eaten alive by mosquitoes, even though we spray you from head to toe. You love sports and are obsessed with the Rangers, we all are a little I suppose! You have become an excellent swimmer and want to be on a swim team next year. We'll see. You want to help me all the time, and you can actually help me now... which is a nice change! You have developed a bit of a smart-mouth... but usually are redirected easily and then you feel really bad and give hugs and kisses to "fix" it. You also try to talk your way out of things, and can come up with some whoppers! You are also very rambunctious and active, and sometimes get too physical. I hear this is the case with most 5 year old boys. You want to play every sport there is. This fall we are playing soccer, which will be new to you... you are soooo excited! You also wanted to play T-ball and football. We had to draw the line at one per season for now. We'll give basketball a try this winter.
You are a technology pro and love the computer, wii and my phone. You also love to do art projects. The past few months you have become really into music and know the words and sing along. You say, "Oh, this one has a good beat." It is pretty stinkin cute! You love to Facetime with Mimi and Papa. You have a really good sense of humor and the best belly laugh! You still like to cuddle and are a snuggler. You LOVE your little brother... and Cole loves you. You play with him and you can make him laugh like nobody else! You can dress yourself, brush your own teeth and can get your own drinks, food etc. You feed the dogs every night and take your plate over after meals. You are a good cleaner-upper as well. Sometimes you help bring in groceries as well. You love to help cheer Cole up when he is upset... this is my favorite!
You have a very developed vocabulary, and sometimes surprise us with the phrases you repeat. Tonight we were dancing and you told me laughing that I looked "ridiculous"... Sometimes you are too honest and we have to remind you to turn on the filter. (he,he) Your new thing is to make me choose the game, toy, food, song, movie first. You say, "You choose first Mommy. I want to do what you want to do." This is B-I-G-T-I-M-E for you buddy... I once talked to you and praised you for allowing one of your friends to choose a toy first... it must have sunk in. This makes my heart so happy because you really like to be the boss and in control, which is good at times too... I wonder where you get this trait from? You just got back from visiting your cousins and you had the best time. You love your family so much, and I'm glad they are important to you!
G, we love you so much! We are so excited for your new adventure in Kindergarten this fall. You are gonna rock-it!!! You are our best BIG boy!!!
To the ends of my fingers and around the world and back...
Love,
Mom
