Dear Cole,
You are 11 months old today... that means my baby boy is almost 1 year old! I just can't put into words how super fast this year has gone.
Movement: Cole, you have mastered the art of walking. You are VERY mobile, and walk across the room pretty easily. You still crawl around some too, but prefer to walk now and are always so proud of yourself when you do. Once you stop and sit down, you clap your hands and smile really big. You also love the bathtub and lay on your tummy and kick your legs like you are trying to swim!
Temperament: Speaking of smiles, you are still just the happiest little thing. I think I have posted about this very topic every month since you were born... and it is still true. Somebody at work told me that they loved your smile because you smiled with your whole body - and that's TOTALLY true! Your little knobby chin and chubby cheeks get me every time. There are times when you get upset, and boy do you get upset. To the point of having to walk you around to calm you down. It seems to me that you might be one of those people that is happy 99% of the time, but when you blow... you really BLOW! Keep in mind, this happens once every few days or so and there are days when you don't cry at all.
Food: You eat everything we eat, except for steak and spicy foods. You also are not supposed to have yogurt or cows milk... but will in a month! You recently have decided you need something special at the end of every meal and say "mo,mo, mo" until I get you some crunchies, mum-mums or puffs. I have on occasion given you a bite of cookie... and you LOVE those as well!
Bottles: You still take 3-4 bottles most days. You would rather have food I think and on days when you eat a lot of food, you drink way less. You are averaging about 20-24 ounces per day. You drink from a sippy cup too.
Sleep: You still take 3 naps a day - 9:15-11:30, 1:00-3:00 and 5:15-6:15 and you sleep through the night from 7:45-7:00. You are a rock-star sleeper!
Clothing/Sizes: You wear size 4 diapers and size 12-18 months. Many of your pants / sleeves are becoming too short and you seem long-waisted to me. So far, your build is long and thin (or average) according to the growth charts.
Speech: You say: momma, da-da, agray(Grady), mo,mo,mo(more) and hi and you make lots of other consonant strands and mixed sounds as well that sounds like talking, just in another language. "Oma" is your whine voice and you say it over and over and over again when you want something.
Milestones: You clap, wave and give high-fives. You can also switch toys from hand to hand and have lots of intention now like when you shake rattles, beat the drums, and make other toys make the sounds they are supposed to make.
Toys / Lovies: You love your swaddling blankets from Target so much. You sleep with one always and immediately pull it to your chest and suck your thumb when it's nap-time or you are riding in the car. Your favorite toys are cars or anything that rolls really and you push them all over the floor just like you are really playing with them. You also want anything you are not supposed to have, including Grady's toys with little parts, the dog water and food bowls. You have dumped over the dog water bowl about 6 times now...
Teeth: You are on a teething break right now... you have 6 teeth. Two on the bottom and 4 on the top.
Physical Attributes: You look less and less like your brother, Grady, each day. You have dark eyes like him, but they are more almond shaped. You are longer and WAY thinner than he was at this age. I think it's because you are mobile and have been for months, so you never really packed on the weight like he did. You also have a shut-off valve for food and stop eating when you are full. You have a broad chest and some rolls. You have really long arms. You have more hair than Grady did at this age, but it's the same color. You are VERY strong. The doctor always notices that and so does Mrs. Stephie, your sitter. Your core is rock-solid and you have great balance. We have to pin you down at times to put on pj's, etc. because you roll over so quickly and easily. You have even started to try to climb out of your crib... not yet buddy! Everyone says you look just like your Daddy, and I have to agree!
We love you.
Love,
Mommy and Daddy
