A Weekend of Firsts...

So this lovely, long, Memorial Day weekend was a weekend of firsts.....
The first time all 4 of us went to the movies....
Grady loved Kung Fu Panda 2, Cole loved sleeping on me!

It was the first time Mommy really cringed at one of your injuries...
We went to Oklahoma for the day to visit Uncle Jerry and Auntie Val's Family Farm and you hit/scraped your neck on the slide... OUCH!!!
It was the first time you got to hold a baby chick...

and got to pet a real, farm cow! (not at a petting zoo)
It was the first time you started to learn to cast on your own... not your first fish however.  This one was sort of borrowed... but you didn't know!

It was the first time I've ever had 70 pounds of potatoes and onions in my truck...
Generous Curtis and Beverly sent us home with some garden fresh veggies!
This is just 1/6 of them...
Potatoes anyone?

It was your first time back at the pool this year and Cole's first trip to the pool!
You were so excited...you couldn't stop dancing!
Cole, this was your first nap at the country club pool and you couldn't stop sleeping... well, you did wake up to eat but then you went right back to sleep!
This is NOT the first time I've looked at you lately and teared up because my baby doesn't look at all like a baby anymore, not even close.
This is also NOT the first time Daddy had to remind you to take breaths and go to the side... you are fearless Grady-Goose!
This was the first time in many, many, many, many attempts I enjoyed shopping with you.
We went to the Gap for a big sale and you kept running around finding things you wanted me to buy for Cole and you would also tell me how cute everything was...
Afterwards we celebrated with a little Mexican food from Mi Chula's... okay, that's a lie... just an excuse for some yummy Mexican food!

This was our first Memorial Day weekend as a family of four.... and it was WONDERFUL!!!
Not only did we enjoy the time together, but it was the first time we (carefully) talked with you, Grady, about what Memorial Day actually is.
We all wore red, white and blue and I think you kind-a, sorta got it.
You do know that the American flag is very special and I love that you point them out wherever we go.  We talked about how we are very thankful for our freedom and the brave men and women who have fought, and do continue to fight and protect our beautiful USA!!!

We ended our weekend of firsts with a fish fry at the Vaughn's... it was you and Cole's first fish fry!
Here are some pictures of our fun!!!

My Mom is the Best...

So mom came and went, and we had a wonderful time! Even though her visit was short, we packed it full of fun!!!

Grady was super excited for his Mimi to come and I'm sure Cole was too... Mimi gives the best cuddles and gets on the floor and plays... She is the very best!

Mimi also loves flowers so off to the Dallas Arboretum we went! Cole did a lot of sleeping but woke up for a meal and some very cute smiles! It was cloudy but we had the best time...
Mimi let Grady take pictures with her camera in return for smiles in her pictures...
At the Little Mermaid House
Always happy to help...and he accepts help from Mimi but nobody else!
He kept arguing... "These are orange Mommy, not pink!"
Lunch break... yum!
Silly faces!
Running in the fountain and shoes wet... oh well, you only live once!
Cole looks amazed or surprised by something...?
Sweet, happy boy!
Beautiful bougainvilleas
Smelling the magnolias

It was a rainy day Friday so I thought it would be a great idea to head to Legoland.... Boy was I wrong! We had never been before and I was pretty sure you paid a little money and got to play with legos... Not so much! I should have done a little research because we discovered as we were in line that it is an amusement park, with amusement park prices... I had promised Grady we would go but had no idea we would be spending $75 just to enter. I just couldn't break a promise to my boy so I bent the truth, just a little. I told him we were in the wrong place and then took him to the Lego store instead and we bought him a $20 Lego set instead! Gosh, I can't believe we got off that easy. Anyway, he had fun just looking at all the Lego sets! One day we will venture there, but only for a very special occasion!

We also got a special visit from my cousin Sarah on Friday night. She is a very talented local artist and the sweetest person! (sarahwilliams-paintings.com) I love having some family close by...
Cole's face here is hysterical... he is not in pain!
...Love you Sarah!

Well, after lots and lots of playing, good food, and fun we had to say goodbye... We love you Mimi and can't wait to see you again soon!

Ten Weeks Tidbits...

Cole, you are ten weeks old today... my goodness time has just flown.  Usually I post after each month buddy, but you have changed so much I just couldn't wait!
You just love being on your belly, and push your chest up off the ground and twist your torso from side to side.

You LOVE your brother and even when you can't see him, you turn toward his voice.... and buddy.... let me tell you - Grady loves you so much!!!

You also smile every time you see him (or Mommy or Daddy) come into sight!

You are just the happiest baby there ever was!  You smile with your whole body... and let me tell you, that body is starting to get pretty healthy (chubby)!!!

You are so talkative... baby language that is!  You coo and grunt and almost laugh at us constantly, but especially when you are getting your diaper changed!

You have started to show some intention with your hands and objects.  Now this has only happened just this once, so it's probably by mistake but you have started to hit and kick the objects hanging from your activity mat!

Happy 10 week birthday "Coley" (as Grady calls you)!
We LOVE you to the ends of our fingers and infinity and more!!!
