So what started out as some really cold temps and some ice turned into a major Winter Storm for the Dallas Ft. Worth Metroplex. It all started late Monday night and is just now thawing... Saturday! This meant SNOW DAYS with NO SCHOOL for Tuesday - Friday... Yippee! I just LOVE to be able to spend extra time with Grady and Richard, especially with the new baby coming soon.... this time alone with Grady is priceless!
It also meant I got to get caught up on laundry, clean the whole house, cook dinner each night AND catch a nap every day... I barely feel like I'm 34 weeks preggo! But it also meant that we were stuck in the house for 4 days straight... and was way too cold for outside snow play until yesterday when it finally warmed up to above 20 degrees... We did manage to fill our time with cartoons, art projects, puzzles, baking, Wii Play, Duck-Duck Goose with stuffed animals, a few movies and lots and lots of snuggle time!
We also had the Vaughn Family come play and we ventured over there later on last night as well... after a mini (major really) house emergency. You see temperatures in the single digits aren't really great for pipes and plumbing and as we were walking out the door to the garage, we found water streaming out of a hole in the wall! After getting the water turned off, a visit by the city emergency crew and then my good friend Kimberly's boyfriend coming over at 8-10 pm to fix the pipe so we could drink water and flush the toilet.... all was well again. Whew... I have to say it would have been really easy to lose it with all of this going on. Through all of it we kept thinking how lucky we were. It was the garage (not the house), we were home, nobody got hurt, and we had good friends to help out!
It really made us thankful for friendship... Justin and Josh rushed right over to help Richard and then took Grady to have dinner (made by Michelle) and play with their kiddos at their house while Richard and I made phone calls, cleaned up, etc. I posted on Facebook our issue and had two different people offer to help, and one that was just 5 minutes away and literally stopped everything to come right over and help. Talk about blessed.... We are so grateful for good friends!!!
Anyway, here are some pictures from Friday morning snow-play. We had a wonderful time and made lots and lots of memories!!!

Here's my sweet boy... 4 years old in 2 days!
Here is our beautiful Molly, our 7 year old Golden Retriever. MolIy is an attention hog, loves her food, is sweet as can be, very protective and gentle and very quick to run to your side if she feels you are being threatened, etc. I never really write or post about the dogs. :( You see, Richard and I love our dogs so much and we used to give them so much attention B.K. (before kids)... Don't get me wrong... we still are good pet owners and manage to give them plenty of attention and love, but it changes when you have kids. I am so glad we have 2 and they have each other....
Here is Sumo... Sumo is an interesting little fellow. Kinda so ugly he's cute, 6 1/2 years old, Japanese Chin, nickname is Cat-Dog because he acts like an obnoxious cat... climbs on the counters, still has accidents when he's mad at us, picks slowly at his food, gets on the furniture, doesn't like to be held or sit on laps, has terrible breath, tuns in circles before he goes potty, you have to practically beg him to go potty, rolls over and screams when he thinks (or knows) he's in trouble... the list of his oddness just goes on and on. We adopted him and let's just say we have questioned this decision many times... we love him though and he is part of our family! (He really is a sweet little weird dog...)
The dogs really enjoyed the snow, and so did Grady! We were outside for at least one hour before he started to complain that his "toesies" were cold... probably because he was wearing thin socks with rain boots. Another Mother-of-the-Year moment for me!
Snow Angels... on his tummy!
Attempting to sled down the driveway... with a big push from Daddy!
Helping Daddy shovel snow... the highlight of the morning... weird child!
Our "Snow-Week" was super fun! There really is nothing better than spending time with the ones you love and making special memories! I LOVE you Grady and Richard... thanks for a wonderfully relaxing week!
