Grady's first flag football game was this past Saturday for the Raiders. They've been practicing for the last month, twice a week. They started him practicing at center and then moved him to quarterback. He has absolutely loved every second. Well, yesterday was their first game and since they had never scrimmaged before or used a full field, it was a learn as you go game. I'd say 1/2 of our team (including Grady) had never played football before this season. They also happened to play a team with a coach who obviously missed his calling as a NFL coach and who had played together for a few years. This guy was hard core... he made me blush, which takes a lot! Ha! Glad we didn't land on his team. We just happen to love our coaches. They told the kids before the game that winning was great, but having fun was more important. This is my kind of attitude... or at least my attitude for 7 year olds. If we're talking about the Cowboys or Rangers... winning is everything! Ha!
I was so proud of Grady! He played hard the whole game. When I asked him after the game what he thought about playing quarterback he replied, "I didn't know they would rush me so fast. I really had to move lots of ways. It was a lot to think about!" Ha! He also played defense most of the game as well. Needless to say, he was exhausted by the end of the game.
Always deep in thought
Cole enjoyed running around with the other kids and eating ice.
Screaming contests
The other team rushed a lot and made some contact, which was illegal. Good thing our boys were tough!
He's really gotten his spiral down for the most part and is working on throwing it hard to the receivers. He holds back some because he wants them to catch it but coach says, hit them hard in the chest... so that's what he's gonna do!
Go Raiders!
Looking forward to a super fun season!
