Summer Projects

I have (had) a list a mile-long of summer projects to work on during nap times and late at night when the whole house is sleeping, but I can't.  It's not insomnia (thank goodness) my hours are just not normal for a mom with 2 kids or someone who works.  In a perfect world, I would go to bed at 1:00 am every night and wake up at about 9-10ish.  Well, this summer I am (many nights) going to bed at 1:00 am and then waking up when the kids get up, which is about 7:45-8:00 these days.  I LOVE this summer schedule.  5:30 am will be brutal in another month... BOO!

This was my (and Richard's - lucky guy) list:

-dentist for me and G
-Cole's 15 mo. well check
-learn to make smoothies
-both dogs to Vet (I love these little reminders they send)

-prune back shrubs in the backyard (they were massive and covering the sandbox)

-get play-set put together (thanks Vaughn's and R for putting it together)

-paint /decorate guest bath / replace mirror (I love how this turned out!  It's hard to tell but it's a really rich tan and the new mirror makes all the difference.)

-paint office (It's a really pretty avocado green - I love it too!)

-clean out ALL closets
-box, label and out kids clothes in attic
-trip to consignment shop
-trip to CCA
-get desk out of garage and gone to somewhere for more room
-organize Grady's art cabinet (sadly, Cole found it and has destroyed it already...It did look good for about 1 week.)

-give away old play-set
-make headboard (This is a big DIY I am going to attempt with the help of my husband... note to self - ask husband for help... better yet, he reads my blog.  Honey, can you cut some wood for a headboard please?  This is the material I bought a year ago because it was on sale.  I L-O-V-E it.  I hope it turns out.  Anybody out there know how to do this...?  Or want to help?   Or want to do it for me??? :) I am hoping for enough material left over to make a couple throw pillows or shams!)

-hang wedding pictures up for the first time from 8 1/2 years ago ( I have a thing about hanging things up)

-make picture collage for wall and hang
-replace all old pictures with new ones around house

-clean out /reorganize pantry
-clean out fridge
-replace kids bathroom sink faucet
-make about 6 meals to freeze for first few weeks of school
-learn how to make my own salad dressings
-blog at least 10 times a month and update my blog design

I have gotten most all of these things done!  I don't know about you, but I LOVE checking things off my to-do list... I feel so accomplished!  Now I know this may not seem like much, but the hours where my kids are up, we are playing!  These are all "after hours tasks".  There just isn't time during the school year, and let's be honest... I'd rather spend time with my hubby and kids during the nights and weekends anyway.  My summers off allow me to stay afloat, at least until October and then the list starts again for next summer!

What are some of your latest DIY projects?  What is on your to-do list???
