Raiders Football, 2014

Grady, flag football was a brand new sport for you this fall.  I say brand new as far as playing...it's been your very favorite sport to watch for a few seasons now.  You had been begging since you watched Brody play a year or two ago and we finally gave in / we felt like you could manage two sports at a time with fall baseball as well.  Football got the priority and we only had 2 conflicts.

It ended up being a really good experience and you loved it.  You got on a team with two awesome coaches and some kids from your school, which made it super fun.  You started off telling them you wanted to play center when they asked but after they saw you throwing the ball, they put you at quarterback and that was your position for the rest of the season.
You picked it up quickly and got better each game with handling the pressure.  By the end of the season you threw lots touchdown passes and ran lots and lots of good running plays.  You were requesting certain plays and quickly learned your favorites.  You did not like the kids rushing you... at all.  You told me after the first game, "I know what Romo feels like now..."  We had a good laugh over that one considering it's flag!  This caused you to study the Cowboys and you taught yourself to "roll out" and avoid the rushing so you could make a play.  It was awesome to see you working the field!
Mostly it was just fun watching you take on something brand new and grow in love with it.  I'm not sure how we will manage two sports again this spring (with tax season), but I have a feeling football might be part of your future... if you have a say in it!
